Abstract
570,378. Flooring tiles. HANCOCK, G. J. July 24, 1943, Nos. 10186 and 15917. [Class 87 (i)] Flooring tiles particularly for a flat roof are formed of upper and lower parts secured together with the centres displaced so that along one half of the perimeter of the tile the upper part a projects beyond the lower part b and along the other half of the perimeter of the tile the lower part projects beyond the upper part and the upper part or at best the upper surface is made of a heat reflecting substance such as white cement and the remainder of the tile or a portion of it is made of a heat-insulating substance such as foamed slag. Interlocking keys b<1> and recesses b', are formed in the edges of the lower part which also has a large air space b<3> and the upper part has tread grooves a<1>. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the lower part is cut up by cross passages into four corner pieces d and the uppe'r part c is of such size as to leave drainage spaces e when the tiles are assembled.
