Abstract
483,483. Thermal switches. WRENTMORE, G. W., and GLOUCESTER INCUBATORS, Ltd. Oct. 19, 1936, No. 28400. [Class 38 (v)] In a temperature-control device for incubators, &c. a thermal element 10 disposed within a heated chamber operates through a rod 7 a rocking arm 5 mounted externally of the chamber, the arm 5 in its movement about a pivot 3 causing the operation of a mercury switch 19 controlling the supply of heated air to the chamber. The mercury switch 19 is mounted on an arm 18 carrying an armature 12 which is moved about its pivot 13 by the movement of a horseshoe magnet 11 fixed on the arm 5. Rise of temperature moves the switch "off" and cuts off the supply of current to the heater, or to one of two elements of a heater. Should the temperature of the incubator still continue to rise a stud 31 on the arm 5 engages a screw 32 and tilts an arm 33 about its pivot 34 causing a rod 27, carrying a damper 26 at one end and a counterweight at the other, to pivot about 28. This raising of the damper 26 allows hot air to escape to 'the atmosphere. Specification 384,025 is referred to.
