798,763. Automatic temperature control systems; control systems for heating reasistors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 18, 1956 [May 20, 1955], No. 15592/56. Class 38 (4). In a control system for an electric surface heating unit 1 comprising thermostatic means 5, which includes a fluid-filled chamber in heat transfer relation with a utensil 2, arranged to open contacts 8, 9 and 10, 11 through a fluidfilled bellows 7, contacts 8, 9 open before the desired temperature is reached and the temperature is maintained substantially constant by contacts 10, 11 which are connected to line L2 through cyclically. closed contacts 20, 21 the fixed contact 20 of which is regulable by knob 18 through gearing 30, 31 and cam 28 to adjust the average wattage input. The knob 18 also turns a cam 16 to bias contact arm 13 to obtain the desired temperature, and the average wattage input through contacts 20, 21 is made to increase with temperature. Cam 24 is driven by a motor 26.
