Abstract
1,151,198. Thermal switches. P. CURTI. 7 Oct., 1966 [7 Oct., 1965], No. 44970/66. Heading H1N. A thermal switch for use in controlling the charge in a heat storage appliance according to external air temperature has a pair of expansible liquid responsive means 14, 28 Fig. 1 associated respectively with temperature sensitive means in the appliance and in the ambient air and coupled to a mechanical transmission lever 23 so that a higher appliance temperature is obtained with lower ambient air temperatures. In the example an aneroid capsule 14 associated with element 17 in the interior of the storage heater is mounted on a screw spindle 4 and rotatable by knob 6 for temperature setting and actuates switch 2 by moving double arm lever 22 about its pivot 22. An ambient temperature compensating capsule 28 is rigidly mounted on the lever 23 and moves a pin 19 against a plate 18 on the capsule 14. Switch 2 may have more than one actuator 25, individual adjustment being obtained through separate screws 24. In a modification the capsule 28 is replaced by a cylinder and spring loaded piston.
