Abstract
483,253. Pivots. BARTLETT, B. G. W., and GOLDING, R. R. Oct. 22, 1936, Nos. 3804/37, (divided out of 483,246), and 2314/37. [Class 65 (ii)] A pivot for scissors and the like comprises a rigid member 50 having a spherical bearing surface disposed in a concave spherical seating in the outer face of one blade and a pin 52 which holds the member 50 in its seating and engages the other blade. In modifications of the arrangement shown, the member 50 may be in the form of a ball, and may have an integral screwed stem replacing the pin 52, or the pin may be inserted through the lower blade and engage a blind hole in the member 50; in the latter case the head of the pin may rest in a recess in the blade. The member 50 may have a cruciform slot for engagement by a driving tool, and may extend into a shallow recess in the inner face of the lower blade.
