483,173. Splash plates and plate - racks for gas - cookers. RADIATION, Ltd., YATES, H. J., and McNICHOLL, E. J. Feb. 25, 1937, No. 5657. [Class 126] A gas cooking-stove splash-plate a which can be moved to act as a cover for the hotplate e is attached to the back of the hotplate and is held in the vertical position by struts j, and carries at the front a foldable plate rack k held in the extended position by struts m, which are prevented by catches p from accidental dislodgement, the plate-rack being movable between its extended and folded positions while the splash-plate is vertical. The splash-plate a is hinged to brackets d, stops g limiting its movement. The struts are adjustable in length and engage recesses h or stops on the hot-plate. The struts m are pivoted to the rack k, and the rod n connecting their inner ends engages in guides o on the splash-plate when the rack is extended, but slides upwardly out of engagement when the rack is lowered. The catches p are notched and have a snap engagement with projections r on the struts m. The catches are attached to pivoted arms s carrying a corrugated supporting rod t for the lower edges of plates. Spring catches v on the plate a engage projections w on the rack when the rack is lowered. Rubber or other resilient pieces x prevent direct contact between the plate a and the hot-plate e when the plate a is closed.
