482,660. Knitting-machines. NEBEL, M. Oct. 1, 1936, No. 26702. [Class 74 (ii)] A straight-bar knitting-machine for knitting double-threaded plush-loop fabric comprises auxiliary sinkers 11, arranged in a bar in front of the needles and in the planes of the dividing sinkers 7, the sinkers 11, during the sinking operation, extending through the needle row towards the sinkers 7 so that the plush thread 3a, placed on to the auxiliary sinkers, is sunk downwardly from the inclined upper edge 6a of the throats of the jack sinkers 6 and formed into longer loops than the ground thread 1a which is sunk below the sinkers 11 in a horizontal direction, the plush loops 3a, positioned in front of the sinkers 7, being held on the upper edge of the sinkers 11 during dividing of the ground thread and up to the landing of the same. The dividing sinkers 7 are sufficiently low to enable the sinkers 11 to remain between the needles during dividing and to allow of the sinkers 11 being lowered during the descent of the needles to passing and landing position. In a modification, each dividing sinker 7 is provided with a nose, above the ground thread throat 7d, on to which the plush loops on the auxiliary sinkers 11 may be transferred during the dividing operation.
