Abstract

481,362. Grinding - machines. DUDLEY, W., and MORRIS, B. O. Sept. 9, 1936, No. 24565. [Class 60] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXVIII] The spindle 53 of the grinding-wheel 55 is driven at variable speed from a motor 59, mounted within the box-like sheet metal frame of the machine, by a belt 57 engaging an expanding pulley 56 on the spindle. The motor is mounted on an adjustable hinged bracket. A water bath, for collecting abrasive particles and cuttings, is arranged beneath the wheel guard 62. A helical impeller 64 mounted on the spindle 53 draws dust-charged air from the vicinity of the wheel and discharges it through a conduit 67 to an air strainer 69.
