Abstract

480,912. Fence posts; ground anchors. GLEAVES, S. T., and WATTS, G. Feb. 10, 1937, No. 3919. [Class 45] A stanchion for temporary fencing comprises an upper part 1 and lower part 2, the latter being pointed at 3 for driving into the ground and having a shallow vertical hole 5 for receiving the lower end of the upper part 1. The socket is thickened at one side to accommodate a bore 6 breaking into the vertical hole 6 and carrying a tapered pin 7 with heads 8 at each end. The pin is struck to secure the upper part 1 with a wedging action; and the heads 8 prevent detachment and loss. The upper part is formed with a helix 9 for a rope or for hanging a lamp thereon and continues upwards in a straight length 10. A signal disc may be mounted on the stanchion.
