Abstract
410,595. Ground anchors. KENNEDY, D. S., Harewood Forest Works, Longparish, Hampshire. March 23, 1933, No. 8792. [Class 45.] A ground anchor comprises a semi-cylindrical or approximately semi-cylindrical member a, Fig. 11, having inwardly directed bosses b through which anchoring spikes c are driven into the ground at an angle as shown. For facilitating the transport of the device, the stakes may be housed longitudinally within the semi-cylinder and held therein by a clamping plate d, Fig. 1, having a stem d<1> projecting through a central aperture a<1> and locked by a nut d<2>. Alternatively two semi-cylinders may be assembled and locked together as in Fig. 2 to serve as a housing for the stakes during transport. The ends of the anchor may be strengthened as shown in Fig. 5 and provided with shackles f whereby several members may be coupled together to form an obstruction across a road. In addition to the stakes passed into the ground other stakes may be passed outwardly through certain of the bosses b to form a cheval de frise.
