Abstract
446,400. Ground anchors. SAMSON, J. O., 341, St. Paul Street, Quebec, Canada. Sept. 4, 1935, No. 24604. [Class 45] A ground anchoring- post comprises a tapered tip secured to the lower end of a tubular member in such a manner that gaps or grooves are formed constituting pivotal anchorages for swinging-arms which lie substantially vertically when the post is being driven into the ground, but which swing into radial positions to engage the earth when the post is partly withdrawn. The post comprises a tubular body 20 with a driving head 21, and a fluted tapered tip 27 secured to the body by a pin 31. The tip has radial slots 30 and slots 29 parallel to the axis communicating therewith, to receive flukes 35 having hooked ends 34, the flukes being loosely coupled to the body, by the securing of the tip section to the body. The flukes may have curved ends. According to a modification, a short tubular body 37, Fig. 8, of the ground anchor, may be secured to the reduced end of a post 40.
