Abstract

480,856. Rotary engines. BOOTH, M. B. July 25, 1936, No. 20666. [Class 110 (ii)] Rotary vanes 9 are carried on spindles 13 in a rotor 1 and crank discs 11 are provided each with a pin 12. During the rotation of the rotor in a clockwise direction of motion, the vanes turn about their spindles in an anticlockwise direction being accommodated within recesses 8 during their passage past an abutment 4. Grooves 10 in the stator 2 co-operate with the vane tips to form seals. Inlet and outlet ports 6, 7, are provided. The pins 12 engage a disc 14 which rotates on a journal 15. In a modification, the pins 12 engage a cam groove in the stator, and may have rollers fitted. The degree of eccentricity of the groove with respect to the axis of the rotor I is equal to the effective length of a crank. The invention may be applied to engines, pumps, &c. described in Specifications 463,931, 464,096, 464,097, and 480,872.
