Abstract

647,781. Revolving cylinder pumps. BAR NA, N. May 23, 1947, No. 13926, Convention date, May 24, 1946. [Class 102(i)] In a revolving radial cylinder pump having a central fixed distributing valve the pistons 4 are spherical and retained against the cam track 6 by centrifugal force and the pressure of a boost pump 15 rotating with the rotor and having helical vanes. The cylinders have spherical ends to reduce the clearance space and the outer ring 2 of the rotor is made of hard material. Ribs 17 prevent swirling of the liquid in the casing. In a modification the rotor has vanes sliding in radial slots and co-operating with the cam track to form the boost pump. In a further modification shown in Fig. 6, each cylinder contains two cylindrical pistons 23, 24, to increase fluid-tightness and the outer pistons 24 in addition perform. the function of the vanes of the vane boost pump.
