Abstract
426,427. Rotary compressors. HAY, W. G., 104, King's Road, Prestwich, Manchester. Dec. 2, 1933, No. 33891. [Class 110 (ii)] In a rotary machine of the outwardlysliding vane type, recesses are provided in the casing between the ends 2 and the centre part 1, and non-rotatable rings 9 are inserted to press lightly under spring-pressure, against the ends of the rotor and the vanes. The distance between the shoulders 8 of the casing 1 is equal to the axial length of the rotor and vanes. Axial expansion of the latter, forces the rings 9 back against the springs 11. Bosses 3, projecting from the ends 2, are concentric with the casing bore 4, and cause vanes 13 to follow the contour of the casing. Further rings or washers 16 are provided between the ends of these bosses and the ends of the rotor, the rings being slotted to accommodate the inner edges of the vanes. The vanes are connected by rods with a circular head at one end, and with a reduced diameter at the other end, the latter fitting into a hole in a vane. The separate springs 11 may be replaced by a continuous spring contained by an annular groove. Pins 12, 18 prevent rotation of the rings 9, 16.
