482,750. Rotary engines. STIEGER, H. J. Oct. 5, 1936, Nos. 26994/36 and 26670/37. [Class 110 (ii)] An outer rotor with end walls 7 and connecting segments 8 revolves concentrically within the casing 1, and an inner rotor 9 is fixed to a shaft 10 with axis 11. The rotor 7 is carried by bearings 13, and the rotor 9 by bearings 14<1>. The outer rotor is driven through the action of vanes 15 which slide in the inner rotor, and have flats 16 which press on flats 8A of segments 8. An arcuate section 5A-5B of the casing bore has a centre 6. The portion 21A, 22B of the abutment 21 is struck from the centre 11, and the portion 22B-22A from the centre 6. The vanes may extend for the whole axial length of the rotor, or they may have their edges stepped. Push-rods 17 between a pair of vanes pass through holes in the shaft 10. The spaces 14A may form pumping spaces for lubricant, and hollows 9A may contain cooling fluid. Oil may enter from a duct 18 to lubricate the push-rods 17. A cooling chamber 4A is provided. The intake 2 diminishes in cross-section in the direction of rotation according to the increase in volume of the pressure space. A delivery 3 may be similarly shaped. Pressure lubrication is preferably supplied at 21. Fluid pressure may be used to force the vanes inwards or outwards. Flats parallel to the flats 8A may be formed in the walls 7, upon which the inner ends of the vanes slide.
