464,493. Meshing - screw engines. AKTIEBOLAGET MILO. Oct. 16, 1935, No. 19868/36. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1934. Divided out of 464,475. [Class 110 (ii)] A meshing-screw compressor or engine comprise rotors 12, 14, with convex and concave threads arranged helically, but with clearances provided between the two rotors. Gear wheels 42, 46, couple the rotor shafts together. Compression is effected between the righthand threads and the radial walls 132, 134, through which the outlet port is arranged. Labyrinth packings 62, 64, 113, are provided, the faces of discs 60, 110, being under pressure to secure axial balance of the rotors which tend to be forced leftwards by the gas compressed in the delivery end of the compressor. Oil-throwing discs are arranged on each side of the bearings to prevent leakage outwards of the lubricant. The rotors are cooled through fluid supplied by nozzles 84, 86, passing inside tubes 88, and returning outside the tubes through the rotors to a chamber 94 with an outlet 96. The space 120, enclosing the bearings 40, 102, and gears 42, 46, may be placed under pressure by means of a pipe 122.
