Abstract
1,137,257. Rotary compressors, expanders and motors. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A. B. Dec.31, 1965 [Jan. 13, 1965], No.55381/65. Heading F1F. In a two-stage rotary compressor of the externally meshing screw type, a pair of male and female screw-rotors 58, 60 in the high-pressure stage are mounted on shafts 46, 54, respectively, which are fixed to the corresponding screw-rotors 38, 40 in the low-pressure stage, said shafts being supported by ball bearings 48, 56 in an end cover 18 of a housing 12, 16 and sealed relative to a partition or plate 14 by rings 144, 146. The shaft 46 is furnished with two pairs of annular lands or projections 68, 70 that engage with corresponding lands or projections 64, 66 in a bore 62 within the rotor 58, the diameters of these projections being such as to effect an interference fit. Removal of the rotor 58 from the shaft 46 is facilitated by feeding a pressurized liquid into an annular space between the pairs of lands 68, 70 and into annular grooves 72, 74 through passages or channels 76, 78, 84 in the shaft, the pressure of the liquid being sufficient to cause radial expansion of the rotor and, thereby elimination of interference between the mutually abutting lands. Angular adjustment of the rotor 58 relative to the rotor 38 can be facilitated in a similar fashion. A lockable retaining-nut 90 is located on the shaft 46 between the rotor and the bearing 48. Similar provisions are made to permit removal of the rotor 60 from the shaft 54, which is substantially identical to the shaft 46, rotation of this rotor relative to the associated shaft being prevented by a pin 122. Lubrication of the bearings 48, 56, further ball bearings (44), 52, Fig. 3 (not shown), for shafts (42), 50 at the inlet ends of the rotors 38, 40, the rings 144, 146 and the outer surfaces of the rotors is effected by oil forced through openings and channels 124,136,138,148,154 from chambers 126, 134 by a pump 128 coupled to the shaft 46. Oil escaping from the bearings enters either an inlet port (24), Fig. 3, for the low-pressure stage through passages (158) or an inlet port (28) for the highpressure stage through passages (152). The outlet port 26 for the low-pressure stage is connected to the port (28) by a channel 30, an opening 32 in the plate 14 and a further channel 34, the outlet port 36 for the high-pressure stage being situated adjacent the plate 14 in axial alignment with the port 26. It is indicated that the invention is also applicable to rotary expanders and motors of the type aforesaid and that the invention is not restricted to a two-stage machine.
