Abstract
480,792. Changing signs. IVES, L. A. J. Sept. 3, 1936, No. 24089. [Class 3 (i)] A sign facia comprising a parttransparent or a stencilled sheet 3 backed by a translucent sheet 5 of indented or patterned glass has a spring mounted light - changing member 8 located behind the patterned glass sheet. The member 8 may have irregular reflecting surfaces, which may be differently coloured, or may have openings which cause light from a rear reflector, lamp, &c. to scintillate. The springs 6 carrying the member 8 may both be straight, or one may be curved, and the sign is carried by a vehicle, or is mounted on a shaking base, so that the member 8 vibrates and imparts a sparkling effect to the facia. Openings may be provided in the casing sides to admit daylight. The whole device may be suspended for wind operation, or may be supported on curved springs which may be laterally staggered, and it may be prevented from excessive rocking by lugs or guides.
