Abstract

479,942. Transformers. COUTINHO, A. L. DE M. Aug. 21, 1936, Nos. 23095 and 23096. Convention dates, Aug. 21, 1935 and July 21, 1936. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] Comprises a tap-changing arrangement for an auto-transformer E, Fig. 1, in which the switch arm has a segment M co-operating with contacts C, G so that in the tap positions 1-4 the supply from JB to the primary of the transformer is completed and in the positions 0 and 5 is broken. In the position 5 the supply JB is connected directly to the secondary circuit LK, the transformer being out of circuit. A fuse F is connected in the primary circuit. To avoid short-circuit in passing from one contact to the next the switch arm consists of a cylinder b, Fig. 2, pivoted on a spindle a carried by a spring c, and pins f taller than the contacts are mounted as shown so that in passing from a contact to the next the cylinder b has to roll over a pin, effective separation thus being ensured.
