Abstract

475,130. Protective cut-out arrangements. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and STOCKS, H. R. May 15, 1936, No. 13814. [Class 38 (v)] A transformer T or other circuit is protected by means of a pair of contact-carrying bimetal springs S, to each of which is connected one end of a heating coil W carrying the main current. When the current rises to such a value as would overheat the transformer, the springs bring the carbon contacts C into engagement with one another, so blowing the fuse F, whereupon the contacts separate and the device is ready for further operation when the fuse is replaced. One spring may be replaced by a fixed strip. Numerical figures for the springs and coils are given for a transformer of circa 50 VA. rating.
