Abstract

478,301. Colouring glass surfaces. PARKINSON, F. D. July 13, 1936, No. 19375. Drawings to Specification. [Class 56] Glass is given a " shot appearance when viewed by transmitted light by giving it integral or applied projections and colouring all the surfaces facing in one direction in the same way and leaving other surfaces untouched or colouring them in a different way and then firing. During firing, applied projections may vaporize. The colour may be applied by spraying in different directions and at different angles and may be in the form of dispersions in toluol, alcohol, or water or may be blown dry after the surfaces have been coated with adhesives. Alternatively the colours may be applied by means of transfers. The projections may be small, e.g. those formed by sand blasting the glass surface or may be coarse-grained enamels or viscous liquids used plain or with colours dispersed in them.
