Abstract

6123. Gibbs, F. I. March 12. Ornamenting. - Relates to sheet glass or glass-ware, having an impressed design on one surface and the other surface plain, and consists in colouring the plain surface to correspond with the design on the opposite surface, the coloured portions having sharply defined edges. The colouring is effected by applying a mixture of colours, flux, and oil, &c. to the required parts, and allowing it to dry. The article is then fired to fix the colours. If a deeper colour is required, dry powdered colours are dusted on to the colours applied as above while they are still tacky. The article is fired when dry as usual.
