Abstract

588,462. Decorating fibrous surfaces. FREIBERG, H., and FREIBERG, S. Feb. 19, 1945, No. 4179. [Class 93]. A process for decorating a fibrous surface with beads of synthetic resin to present a shot effect comprises applying drops or globules of an unhardened synthetic resin to the surface, applying colour as pigment or dye in liquid or pasty form to a portion only of the surface of each of the globules, the globules being allowed or caused to harden either before or after applying the colour. The colour may be applied incorporated with synthetic resin which may be similar to or identical with that of which the globules are formed. Urea-formaldehyde resins containing a hardening agent are preferably used for the globules, which may themselves be coloured. Some of the beads may be decorated with one or more colours and some or all of the remainder with one or more other colours. Specifications 565,711, 573,855 and 584,562 are referred to.
