Abstract
477,695. Operating clutches. ETCHELLS & SON, Ltd., D., and ETCHELLS, D. R. July 7, 1936, No. 18800. [Class 80 (ii)] A lever D controlling the clutch of a forging or other machine, comprising a spring-engaged radially-slidable key C, is adapted to be operated by a second lever E, which latter is pivoted on the same axis cl as the lever D and is rocked by a cam F, on a shaft G geared to the machine shaft A, through the intermediary of a member H which is slidable along a guide e<1> on the lever E and which is connected to a pedal J. A spring h<2> normally holds the member H in the position shown, where it engages a flat surface d<1> of the lever D. On depressing the pedal, the member H is drawn to the right out of engagement with the surface d<1>, the lever D drops into contact with a stop M and the clutch engages. On releasing the pedal, the member H returns to its original position and, when the lever E is raised by the cam, the lever D is also raised and the clutch is disengaged.
