Clutches, claw; operating clutches. - In onerevolution segmental-key clutches for presses, shearing-machines &c., the clutch-releasing trigger is pulled down by a notched link, which is so connected to a bell-crank actuating-lever and constrained by a fixed roller as to be rocked through an arc when depressed and thus to be disconnected from the trigger. A segmental key Q carried by the crankshaft 0 can be turned to engage a notch in the flywheel boss (not shown) by a tension spring connected to an arm on the key or by a coaxial helical torsion spring secured at one-end to the key and at the other end to an adjustable spindle X locked by a set-screw Y in a spring housing V. At its other end, the key Q carries an arm P movable in a gap S in a collar R, a set-screw T therein being engageable with a notch in the key to hold it disengaged while the shaft O is being turned by hand. The arm P is normally engaged by a trigger G having slotted engagement with its pivot H. The trigger is pressed by spring plungers L, M and carries a pin J engaged by the hooked end of a link C, which is held against a roller D by a spring F and is connected to a treadle or hand lever by a bellcrank lever B pivoted below and behind its point of attachment to the link. On depression of the link C to start the machine, the trigger G releases the arm P, the link C rocks backwards, and the trigger G slides forward on its pivot H, as shown in Fig. 3, so disengaging the parts C, J. Whether the treadle &c. is released or not, the trigger rises against a stop surface into the path of the arm P to declutch after one revolution. By removing the roller D, continuous running during actuation of the treadle &c. is obtained.
