[Class 144 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A metal wheel comprises two sets of flat metal spokes diverging from the hub, each set being integral with a corresponding rim-portion, or with the complete rim. Fig. 2 shows a method of producing the two halves of a wheel body by severing a flat blank P along a sinuous line a b c, c d a, ... to provide two strips P<1>, P<2> each comprising a continuous edge portion A and a series of tongues T. These strips are then circled and deformed, as shown in Fig. 4, to produce rim portions A and spokes B. The inner ends of the spokes are then welded to a flanged hub-ring such as C, Figs. 12 and 15. In these examples, the rim is completed by a ring D of a cross-section appropriate to the form of the rim-portions A<1>, A<2> of the wheel-body. Fig. 19 shows a modification in which the complete rim with beaded flanges R, S, and both sets of spokes B, are formed in a one-piece blank.
