[Class 144 (i)] In a wire wheel of the kind in which the spokes pass through the hub and extend across the wheel, the cranked middle portion c<2> of each spoke c, and the co-operating hole b<1>, Figs. 1 and 7, or slot b<3> Fig. 6, in the hubflange b<2> are formed at oblique angles. The spokes may be formed of gradually-increasing thickness at the middle portions. The ends of the spokes are secured to the rim by ordinary screw-nipples d.
