[Class 87 (ii)] A moulding-machine, particularly for moulding sweets such as lollipops, comprises a pair of rollers or rotary members 1, 2 having cooperating mould pockets 4 which are arranged to enter into flat engagement during moulding, the rollers being relatively movable to and from each other for that purpose. The pockets 4 are formed in flats 3 on the rollers which may be hexagonal, as shown. The rollers are so disposed that the flats, prior to engagement, form a substantially upwardly directed receptacle. The rollers are mounted on axles 6, 7 and each rotated by gearing from axles 9, 10 and by worm gearing from a drive shaft 13. The axles 6, 7 may be mounted in brackets 8 pivoted about the axles 9, 10. The brackets 8 and rollers 1, 2 may be constantly urged together by spring or by weights. In use, pieces of material are formed and fed by gravity between the pockets which are moved together to mould the material by engagement of the rollers or by cams 21 each mounted on one of the axles 6, 7 and engaging a ring on the other. The pockets 4 are aligned and the axles 6, 7 maintained in a common horizontal plane by T-members 26 having elongated holes 27 therein through which the axles 6, 7 pass. The members 26 are adjustably fixed on the side-plates of the machine. Movement of the brackets 8 may be limited by stop-screws 30 carried by bars 31 secured to the side-plates. The rollers may have lateral grooves whereby sticks can be introduced in moulding lollipops. A number of pockets 4 may be arranged sideby-side in each flat 3. The mould pockets may be detachable and pivotally seated in the rollers. The mouths of the pockets may have lips projecting slightly beyond the flats which may be slightly sloped from the mouths. The moulds may be shaped to produce spheres or representations of human heads, toys such as tops or fruit. Material such as toffee may be fed from a cutting machine through a hopper in synchronism with the rollers 1, 2.
