Stream - cutting machines; extrusion machines.-A machine for forming individual pieces from cold plastic material, e.g for confections or confection centres, comprises a container fitted with a bottom die plate through which the material is forced into contact with a verticallymovable receiving platform spaced parallel to the die, cutting-means being disposed beneath the die plate to sever the fingers of extruded material while in contact with the platform. As shown, a container 11 is fitted with an interchangeable die plate 16, Fig. 3, supported upon flanges 16 and furnished with extrusion nozzles 39 beneath which are disposed cutting-wires 42 mounted in a. frame 40 movable horizontally by a, lever 49. A receiving-platform 56 is movably supported beneath the die upon a frame 55 furnished with legs 66 carrying rollers 67 engaging inclines 64 on a frame 63 which is supported upon rollers on shafts 61, 62 and held down by a roller 68 and is movable horizontally through a link 75 connected to a lever 77 on the shaft 61. Vertical movement of the frame 55 is ensured by pins 60. The material is extruded from the chamber 11 by a plunger 25 carried by a screw 24 traversed by a threaded bevel gear 29, Fig. 1, meshing with a gear 28 on a shaft 27 operable by a crank handle 26. The shaft 27 is carried by a head 33 hinged at 20 to the casing and secured by a pin, the head being swung aside for cleaning or refilling. A revotution-counter 30 is provided. The shaft 61, controlling the frame 55, is fitted with a lever 73 working over a notched quadrant 78 between a fixed stop and an adjustable stop 83, the lever being locked by a spring pawl 82. In operation, the platform 56 is adjusted to the desired height through the lever 73 and, if necessary, is covered with a sheet of paper 89, Fig. 10. The plunger is then operated to force material 87 through the nozzles 39 and form shapes 88, after which the cutter frame is operated and finally the platform is lowered for the removal of the confections &c. The cutting wires 42, Fig. 3, are connected at one side of the frame 40 to eyes and at the other to adjustable hooks and are supported between the rows of nozzles 39 by notched longitudinal bars 44.
