Moulding confectionery; casting - apparatus. - A machine for moulding hollow articles, particularly chocolate Easter eggs, comprises an endless belt which is equipped with moulds adapted to be rotated in two planes during the solidifying period. As shown, an endless mould belt composed of a pair of chains 2, Fig. 3, supports in pivots 8 mould frames 7 wherein the moulds 13 are journaled by pivots 11, 12. The mould belt 2, Fig. 1, carries the moulds past a charging- apparatus 1, through a shaking-apparatus 3 and cooling-chamber 4, then to a second shaking- apparatus 5 where the articles are delivered and finally back to the charging-apparatus through an oven 6. Rotation is imparted to each mould frame 7 by a sprocket 9, Fig. 3, on one pivot 8 engaging a driven chain 20; and the mould is rotated intermittently by a starwheel 14 on the pivot 11 engaging pins 19 placed at intervals, and is positioned by a spring 16 engaging a squared plate, 15. In the shaking-apparatus 3, the moulds first pass below and then above a shaking-table 18 rotated by eccentrics 21 or swinging weights. The moulds comprise a frame 22, Fig. 7, carrying a bottom mould section 23 to which, after charging, a cover 24 is applied and secured by clips &c. 25. The covers are removed as the moulds pass from the cooler 4, Fig. 1, to the shaking-apparatus 5.
