Buckets covered by travelling belts.- Apparatus for feeding articles such as cherries, nuts, &c. to. the starch moulds in confectionery making machines comprises a conveyer made up of a series of slats 13 mounted on chains 15 and provided with pockets 20 which pick up the articles c from a bin 21 in its upper run, and a band 26 which covers the pocketsin the lower run and is adapted to uncover them abruptly as they come over the recesses in the mould trays t carried by another conveyer moving in timed relation with the conveyer 13. The apparatus is described as interposed between a mould forming and a depositing machine and all the parts are driven from the shaft 40 of the mould forming machine, suitable interruptions of the transmission gear being provided to account for the spacing of the moulds. The conveyer 13. runs over a loose sprocket 16 and a driven sprocket 17 and excess articles are caused to return to the bin by a brush 22 or by jarring the con. veyer by contact between projections 26 on the chains and an adjustable bar 24. Preferably each slat has a row of pockets spaced inaccordance with the spacing of the recesses in the moulds. The delivery of the articles to the mould recesses is assisted by a tapping device actuated by an arm 37 and a ratchet wheel 38 on the driven sprocket shaft. The' pocket closing band 26 passes over a driven pulley 27, adjustable tensioning pulleys and an adjustable bar 32 so as to provide an abrupt bend and sharp opening of the pockets in their delivery position.
