Abstract

215,056. Lamplough, F., and Fathers, G. H. Jan. 26, 1923. Rolling-machines.-In apparatus for moulding fuel briquettes of the type having two rotatable bevel die-wheels each having on its bevel face dies which co-operate to form moulds, the axes of the die-wheels are at right-angles to each other and the bevel faces meet in a vertical plane passing through the axes at right-angles to the surface of a conveyer belt arranged beneath the die-wheels. The material which may have been mixed or treated in apparatus such as that described in Specification 215,292, [Class 86, Mixing &c.], is preferably fed direct by a shoot to the meeting faces of a pair of die-wheels 17 rotated by bevel gearing 29 from a central driving shaft 30 which also carries a pulley 19 for driving a conveyer belt 18. Dies 21 in the bevel face of the die-wheels co-operate to form moulds from which the formed briquettes are ejected by means of a cam or pusher wheel 22, Fig. 3, coming into contact with the stem of a spring-retracted plunger 23 which is situated in each die and may be engraved to impress a design &c. upon the briquette. A band 26 by which the cam is secured to the exterior of the bearing of each die-wheel can be rotated so as to vary the position at which ejection occurs. The conveyer band is kept taut by means of adjusting screws acting upon the movable bearings of a jockey pulley.
