Convention date, May 11, 1936 [Class 34 (ii)] Granular or like material is dried by being injectec upwardly by a centrifugal mill c into a vertical drying shaft a against a counter. current of hot drying gas introduced from the top of the shaft, a discharge hopper h being provided for dried material. The moist material is fed to the mill from a hopper d. An outlet pipe f is provided with adjustable guide surfaces g whereby the material is guided into the hopper h or hopper d, in accordance with the size and moistness of the particles.
