[Class 78 (i)] [See also Group XIII] Coal or other granular material is dried by hot gas while being moved through a casing 1 by a helical conveyer of which some blades 8 are imperforate while others 9 are provided with gaps to facilitate the flow of the gas. Between the gas byepass 13 and the coal feedhopper all the blades are apertured. The pitch of the screw need not be constant.
