475,488. Water-tube steam boilers. GES. FUR LA MONT-KESSEL UND KRAFTWIRTSCHAFT VORM. TECHNISCHE ZENTRALE DR. HERPEN GES. Feb. 21, 1936, No. 5259. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1935. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] A tubulous locomotive boiler with forced feed includes an upright collector drum 1 laterally of which one or more horizontal flues extend. Pumps 3 convey water from the drum via pipes 2, 4 to a distributer 5 which communicates with the drum through tubes 6 forming the side walls of a combustion chamber and serpentine extensions 8 and through other tubes forming the top. Superheater tubes 10, 11 and feedwater heater tubes 12, 13 are located in flues beyond the drum separated by a space of the same width. Tubes 14 at the sides of the hotter part of the flues lie close together. In another arrangement in which the water is completely evaporated in the tubes, the pumps deliver feedwater from a tender. The superheater groups in the two flues are of different size and regulation of superheat is effected by means of dampers 15.
