Abstract

475,001. Distribution boards; twopart couplings. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd., and GOODWIN, W. E. Sept. 11, 1936, No. 24768. [Class 38 (i)] A telephone terminal strip comprises a hollow body built up of two sheets 9 of insulating-material connected at their ends by spacers 12 in which are mounted rows of terminal tags 10 secured in corresponding slots in the two sheets 9. The strip is attached to a base consisting of a metal stamping 3, the arms 1 of which support insulating sheets 4 through which are formed holes for the passage of the cables to the terminal tags. A plug for making test contacts with the terminal tags consists of an insulating-body 18, Fig. 5, of dimensions to fit between the sheets 9 and between adjacent rows of terminal tags and carrying resilient contacts 20 equal in number to the tags in one row. The contacts consist of profile formations on leaf springs within the body 18, the springs carrying those contacts nearest the point of support of the springs being slotted so as to be of U-shape to increase their resilience. The springs are bolted together with insulating spacers between them and connected to a multiple lead that enters the end of the handle portion 21 of the plug.
