Abstract

1,045,759. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Oct. 8, 1964 [Nov. 27, 1963], No. 46780/63. Heading H2E. An electrical connector comprises two insulating blocks 1 and 7, in one of which are pressfitted contact blades 2 having straight ends 4 lying within apertures 5 of the block to form counter-contacts for contact springs 10 extending from the second block. The block 7 carries an even number of contact springs 10, and they are arranged to act transversely on the contacts 2, the forces exerted by one half of the contact springs being equal and opposite to the forces exerted by the remainder of the springs. The contact springs 10 have guide surfaces 11 at their mating ends. The contacts are frictionally held in their respective blocks with the aid of protuberances 6. The contacts may be plated with tin or gold, and the blocks 1 and 7 may be held together by jack-screws.
