Abstract

323,560. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Trencham, H. Oct. 9, 1928. Plug couplings.-A plug or socket member is built up of a number of wires 1 secured at both ends to a cable socket 3 and supported by a resilient layer 6 that may have a rigid backing 7. The ends of the wires may be welded or brazed into a slot 2 in the socket 3 and may be extended as shown in Fig. 2 to form a resilient shank 13 that permits self-alignment, a stiffening plug 8 and ring 9 being arranged at the end of the socket portion. In the case of a plug the rigid backing is formed by an extension 10 of the cable socket 3 and one end of the wires is secured in a recess 11 by a plug 12 brazed therein. The contacts may be made of a circular or flat cross section, and several circular contacts may be grouped or arranged concentrically. Specification 1403/83 is referred to.
