Abstract
474,847. Locks ; fastenings &c. WILKES, O. F., WILKES, F. W. G., and JONES, C. W. July 10, 1936, No. 19114. [Class 44] In a fastening of the type wherein a pair of bolts are movable in opposite directions and are operated by a common follower from a single handle, a third locking bolt movable at right-angles to the other two and operated by a key passing through the handle is provided, so that the third bolt must be retracted before the other two can be moved. The vertical bolts 33, 34 are retracted by means of the pins 38 attached to the follower 39 operated by a handle 40. The bolts 33, 34 are so shaped that the sides of plate 36 act as guides. The third bolt 35 actuated by a key engaging the notch 47 and tumblers 48, is so formed that when shot the pin 45 rests on its upper surface and prevents retraction of both bolts which are interconnected through the follower. A recess 44 behind the nose allows of withdrawal of bolts 33, 34 when the bolt 35 is retracted. The key hole slot 42 is formed axially through a collar 53 rotatably mounted in the square boss 39b which is formed by riveting a U-shaped member to the follower 39. Pin 45 also prevents the bolt 35 being shot until the bolts 33, 34 are shot.
