503,960. Locks. BUDAPESTI KRETA, VEGYESZETIGYAR ES KERESKEDELMI R. T. July 14, 1937, No. 19500. Void. Convention date, July 16, 1936. [Class 44] A safety lock comprises an ordinary keyoperated bolt 1 (shown as having two limbs 1a, 1b) and a safety bolt 7 controlled by members 20 freely pivoted on a fixed guide pin 6 which is engaged in a slot in the tail of the ordinary bolt. The tail of bolt 7 is bifurcated as seen in plan, Fig. 2 to embrace the tail of bolt 1, and a member 20 is provided at each side of said tail: The lower edge of bolt 1 has the usual recesses 9, 10 for co-operation with the key bit in shooting the bolt, whilst the upper edges of both bolts have teeth 15, 16 engaged by a spring tumbler 14 releasable by the key. The lower edge of member 20 has recesses 21, 22, recess 22 normally registering with recess 9 as shown. The upper edge of member 20 has recesses 24, 25 co-operating with pins 17, 18 on the tail of bolt 7. The arrangement is such that the correct key operates bolt 1, but clears members 20. An incorrect key, however, if used to retract bolt 1, also rocks one or both of the members 20 so as to shoot bolt 7 as bolt 1 retracts. If so shot, bolt 7 is held in shot position and can only be retracted by the correct key after first shooting bolt 1, so that indication is given that the lock has been tampered with. A modification is described in which the safety bolt is disposed above the ordinary bolt.
