Abstract
503,174. Locking-mechanisms. ELZETT VASARUGYAR R. T. Aug. 2, 1938, No. 22797. Convention date, Feb. 19. [Class 44] In a double-turn lock adapted to be operated from either side. through aligned keyholes by a double-bitted key, tumblers 9, Fig. 2, pivoted at 7 on the bolt 2, have two dissimilar parts A, B engaged in succession by the key, Fig. 3, diagonally opposite teeth of which are identical. A stump 3, fixed to the casing, guides the bolt by means of a slot 5 and coacts with openings in the tumblers to control the bolt. A plate 20, Fig. 6, is mounted on the bolt but spaced from it by the tumblers, a hole 26 in the plate engaging the pin 7 and a slot 25 engaging the stump 3 to prevent the plate turning. The bolt has a gating 15 and the plate 20 a gating 22, which are engaged successively by teeth 17, 17<1> of the key to move the bolt. Smaller gatings 16, 21 act as wards, the teeth 27, 27<1> of the key being cut to clear them. In a modification, two sets of tumblers arc mounted on the bolt.
