Abstract
474,364. Changing signs. LUMSDEN, E. Jan. 15, 1937, No. 8539/36. [Class 3 (i)] In transparent mirror display apparatus in which two mirrors are disposed so that each bisects the angle between the sides 2 and the back 3 of the casing, thus producing an effect in which no change in the apparent size of the casing is seen whether the mirrors are viewed as transparencies or as reflectors, the mirrors 7, 8 extend from the roof to the floor of the casing 1. An object 19 is enclose by the mirrors for intermittent illumination by an overhead lamp, and other overhead lamps light up the part of the casing in front of the mirrors when the rear is unilluminated. Thermostatic, clockwork, time delay, electric relay or other switch may be employed for the lamps. The meeting edges of the mirrors 7, 8 may be masked by a strip 20, or the mirrors may be made in one piece. Opaque mirrors may be put on the inside walls of the casing. The lamp compartment may be fronted by a transparency lit intermittently by the lamps.
