Abstract
473,176. Cooling dynamo electric machines. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Feb. 17, 1937, No. 4810. Convention date, Feb. 29, 1936. [Class 35] The cooling air-currents of a dynamo-electric machine are produced by fans 9 shut off from the space occupied by the windings and located between the bearings and the rotor, which fans draw the heated air from portions 15 of the stator periphery and deliver it, after cooling, partly to the winding heads 3 and partly to the remaining portions 13 of the stator periphery. In the preferred arrangement shown, the fans have spiral casings whereby the heated air loses velocity and gains pressure. The heated air is conducted by guiding ribs 23 between the two walls of a double bottom 21 towards coolers 18 situated below and on both sides of the machine. The cooled air flows below the double bottom and through a vertical conduit 22 back to the machine.
