[Class 106 (ii)] Relates to hydraulic brake dynamometers in which the casing rocks and is connected by a lever system to a weighing device to measure the torque reaction, and consists in providing two lever systems each connected to the casing at diametrically opposite points, one only of which is operative to transfer force to the weighing device depending on the direction of rotation of the casing. Two guided limbs e, f the upper ends A<1>, A<2> of which abut against projections at diametrically opposite points of the casing a, are pivoted at the lower ends to levers g, h having fulcrums C<1>, C<2>. The levers g, h are connected by a common pivot D<1> to a link i pivoted in turn to a lever k connected by a link to a balance n, o at d. According to the direction of rotation only one of the links e and f is effective. In a modification the links e and f are pivoted to the casing, the guides are dispensed with and the pivots C<1>, C<2> only rest in their bearings one being lifted while the other is effective.
