472,461. Motor vehicles. ZAVODY TATRA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST PRO STAVBU AUTOMOBILU A ZELEZNICNICH VOZU. March 22, 1937, No. 8383. Convention date, July 8, 1936. [Classes 79 (ii), 79 (iii), and 79 (iv)] In order to provide for converting a sixwheeled motor vehicle into a four-wheeled one and vice versa, the gear-box 1 accommodating the drive for the front axle 2 is provided with a cover 3 or 3<1>, the cover 3<1> for a four-wheeled vehicle having supporting means for a tube 6<1> or other chassis member on a level with the main gear-wheel 5 of the front axle drive, while the cover 3 for a six-wheeled vehicle has supporting means for a chassis tube 6 on a level with the auxilary gear wheel 4 of the front axle drive thus, in the case of the four-wheeled vehicle the transmission shaft for the rear axle 10<1> is coaxial with and driven from the main gear 5, and in the six-wheeled vehicle the rear axles 10 are driven from the auxiliary gear 4 through a shaft at a sufficiently high level to pass above the foremost of the two rear axles. This latter shaft drives the rear axles through gearing 8, 9 and a shaft 11.
