Abstract
530,557. Motor vehicles. GEAR GRINDING MACHINE CO. June 27, 1939, No. 18718. Convention date, May 26. [Classes 79 (ii), 79 (iii) and 79 iv] In a vehicle propelled by two engines the front engine B drives the front steering wheels O<SP>2</SP> through a rearwardly-disposed differential gear I, and the rear engine B' drives the rear wheels F<SP>1</SP>. The engines B, B' and the gears and driving shafts are standard parts as far as possible. The differential gear I drives the steering-wheels through transverse shafts J, J<SP>1</SP>, bevel gearing K, longitudinal cardan shafts L', bevel gearing N and universal jonts O in line with the steering pivots (not shown). The front axle comprises gear casings M connected together by a member M<SP>2</SP>. The two engines may be used independently or together.
