[Class 4] In means for propelling aircraft which includes two oppositely-driven coaxial airscrews mounted on shafts p, b, the shafts are connected by a reverted or differential gear r, s, u, the intermediate gear or gears u being carried by a spider t which is located in position on and centred by the central shaft b. As shown, the engines comprise parallel crankshafts which may be of the form described in Specification 450,846, [Group XXIV], and the engines may be constructed as described in Specifications 368,263 and 447,266, [both in Group XXVII]. The shaft b is driven at the end remote from the airscrews through a resilient element comprising resilient radialblades d secured to the shaft and engaging at their outer ends slotted bushes e.
