471,945. Stop-motions and alarms for drawing-frames. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J., and MACKIE, J. P. April 20, 1936, No. 11321. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] In a drawing-frame for jute and like material having drawing rollers 1, 2 and delivery rollers 3, 4, Fig. 1, means, such as a stationary rod 8 and a pivoted plate 9 are provided between the two pairs of rollers for causing the sliver delivered by the rollers 1, 2 to bunch up when no longer tensioned by the rollers 3, 4 and thus actuate a stop-motion and/or warning device. When the sliver breaks between the roller pairs it is packed between the rod 8 and the plate 9, Fig. 3, and depresses the latter so as to bring the members 10, 13 into contact and thereby complete or break an electric circuit. Alternatively the plate 9 may form part of a mechanical relay or may itself form part of a stop-motion.
