Abstract
829,645. Stop-motion for drawing frames. FRASER & SONS Ltd., D. Nov. 29, 1957 [Dec. 15, 1956], No. 38313/56. Class 120(2) A stop-motion for a drawing frame for slivers of bast, consists of forwarding rollers between the sliver roll and the main feed rollers of the drawing frame: the forwarding rollers are normally spaced apart by the sliver, are electrically conducting and are incorporated in a circuit with the operating mechanism of the frame, at least one of them being insulated from the frame. In Fig. 4 the forwarding rollers 6, 7 are in a secondary circuit supplied by a transformer: the roller 7 is insulated from the frame and the roller 6 and a relay coil 20 are earthed to it. When the sliver 4 breaks, the rollers contact and the coil is energized to open a contact 18 to stop the motor. Manual start and stop switches 21, 22 are provided. In Fig. 1, the sliver roll 1 is mounted on rollers 2, 3 and the sliver passes to feed rollers 5 over a guide 14 between the rollers 6, 7 and a plate 8. The roller 6 is driven and two of them may be carried by a common bracket: each co-operates with two rollers 7 each furnished with a guide 14 and both carried by a T-bracket pivoted so that they may be accommodated in a bracket. A second driven roller may be provided, acting with the other driven roller 6 as a cradle for the roller 7.
