Abstract

1425819 Web condensing guides W A THOMASON JR 24 Jan 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 03425/74 Headings DID and DIN An apparatus for gathering material into a strand has a guide A on each side of the material strand, the guides being movable from an outer to an inner position by a power operated device, a switching device being provided to actuate the power operated device, the resultant strand being delivered by calender rolls 16. The power operated device comprises pneumatic cylinders C e.g. under the control of a sliver 1 presence detector 47 which may also activate a stop motion. The apparatus is shown on a carding engine and the movement of the guides may be initiated by any stop motion on the engine. A suitable pneumatic circuit is illustrated in Fig. 4 (not shown).
